The story behind the invention of SKINS

In 1996, an Australian skier had a big ambition: to feel ten years younger so he could ski all day, party all night and be ready to do it all over again the next day.

His starting point was the observation that improved blood flow brings more oxygen to the muscles, helps them work harder for longer and recover faster. So he consulted NASA and other experts to confirm his major discovery. And he was right.

Then word got around that there were new products called SKINS that improved endurance. Professional athletes were the first to wear them. Amateur sportsmen soon followed.

The true spirit of competition

In 2010, we launched an advertising campaign featuring several top athletes. Entitled "Cheat Legal", it plays on the fact that SKINS gives you a natural unfair advantage. At SKINS, we believe that athletes should conduct themselves with honesty and integrity in all circumstances. They must give their all but always fairly, driven by the "true spirit of competition".

According to Andy Layhe, director of BikePure, "It was our values and intolerance of doping that led him to choose SKINS as the first BikePure certified company."

We don't believe in it, because we don't think it's necessary. Even less so if you have a product that actually works and the research to prove it.

We took five years to launch our first SKINS tights, five years of testing, talking to experts and working on the design. We're moving a little faster now, but we're still applying the same procedures to our products.

That's right, when you have a scientifically proven product that improves training and performance and speeds up recovery, you say it outright. No need for hype.
